What you get from NLP Practitioner Part 2

(1) Personal and Professional Development

The Pegasus NLP Practitioner Part 2 is a inspiring personal and professional experience packed with information, insights and practical techniques. You will be devoting a total of 14 days in two one-week modules (or over 5 weekends in October-December 2011) to yourself - to give yourself a thorough 'makeover' in how you think, feel, act (and react), and interact with others.

What you learn will have applications in all areas of your life including business, management and leadership, sales and influencing, and coaching. During the course you will be part of an ongoing 'coaching group' with two or three others in which you will be able to look at how to effectively apply your new insights and skills in areas of special interest to you.

As in Core Skills you learn-by-doing and you first apply what you learn in your own life. In this way you benefit from the methods and, as a result of this, you will be more skilful and congruent in how you apply the methods with others.

(2) Communicate with exceptional skill

During the Practitioner Part 2 Programme you will be developing exceptional skill in how you understand and communicate with others by using the two parts of the NLP Language Model: the Meta Model and the Milton Model.

These skills will enable you to

  • Recognise the thinking patterns, including limiting beliefs, which lie behind what a person says

  • Recognise and deflect attempts by others to un-usefully influence you

  • Help others clarify their thinking by using a 'conversational coaching' approach

  • Add precision and emotional impact into how you communicate with individuals and groups.

The Language Model is one of the most powerful NLP processes. NLP co-developer Richard Bandler once described the Meta Model as 'the basis of everything we do'.

At Pegasus NLP we specialise in making the NLP Language Model accessible and memorable because we believe it is the most important, most powerful and most practical of all the NLP processes – and the one which you are likely to use most frequently in your daily personal and professional life for years to come.

(3) Use 'Strategies' to become more skillful

'Strategies' are the automatic or 'unconscious' programmes which each of us has for doing just about everything we do. Strategies are like recipes. And we have strategies or recipes for eating, planning, being excited, communicating, getting annoyed, becoming fearful, successfully handling situations, and so on.

Some strategies work excellently. And some cause us problems – they are not fit for purpose. In this Programme you learn how to recognise which strategy you, or someone else, is using in a particular situation, assess if this is effective and efficient, and alter or replace it if necessary.

You can use your skill with strategies to improve your own performance, overcome difficulties or develop new skills and assist others in doing the same, whether as a coach, friend, parent, manager, etc.

(4) Use Values to motivate yourself and others

As we briefly explored in NLP Core Skills, Values are the feelings which we wish to experience or avoid experiencing; which we wish to move towards or away from. A thorough understanding of Values, backed by real skill in utilising them, is fundamental to motivating yourself and to making important decisions in your life.

Like the Language Model, we consider Values to be critically important which is why you will be exploring them throughout the Programme. You will be developing your own Values Hierarchy so that you know your own values and their importance relative to one another. You will be using this to examine how your daily life is or is not fulfilling your top values - and discovering how you can remedy this where necessary.

You will also be looking at how you can use your Values Hierarchy to make more considered, proactive and far-sighted decisions in your personal and professional life.  And, having learned to work with your own values and use these to motivate your self and clarify your own decision-making, you will then look at how to apply the process with others at work and at home.

(5) NLP Change & Influencing Techniques

The following are some of the many techniques you will learn and which you can use to benefit yourself or others. The full syllabus is in your NLP Core Skills' Manual and is on-line here.

(1)     Reframing: a wide range of methods for conversationally influencing how you and other people emotionally respond to events and situations.

(2)     Parts Negotiation: one of the most powerful and effective stress management tools in NLP – great for resolving inner conflict, too.

(3)     Change Personal History: defuse the impact of your own or others' long-held negative anchors, or gut responses, such as those which evoke fear or anger.

(4)     The Fast Phobia Cure: a quick and very powerful way of changing how you are affected by uncomfortable memories - or concerns about forthcoming events.

(5)     State Elicitation: how you can assist someone in changing from a negative emotional state to a more resourceful one - and how you can do this in a seamless and conversational way.

(6)     Anchoring: how to recognise the Anchoring Phenomenon in which positive and negative anchors are being created in everyday life. How to create powerful positive anchors for yourself and others.

(7)     Swish Pattern: How to use the Swish, which you experienced at the end of Core Skills, to assist yourself or others easily negate the impact of negative anchors.

(8)     Design your Future process: This is ongoing during the Programme. You identify your core values, use these values to design how you wish your life to be in a few years time, and develop an action plan for making this happen.

Plus…

Archery & Team Events: Apply what you are learning by exploring archery and some team challenge events.

Raft-building: We sometimes have a raft-building session early in the course to explore team dynamics. (NB: this session is not guaranteed as, for safety reasons, it is very dependent on weather and tide times.)

High Ropes Revisited: at the end of the programme we will have a another High Ropes session in which you can compare your approach to the High Ropes at Core Skills with that at the en of your Practitioner.
