NLP & Canoeing...?(See Gallery Page for other outdoor activity picture pages) On occasions we may hold a canoeing session, rather than a raft-building one, on Poole Harbour as part of our NLP Practitioner Part 2 training course. It's fun, provides a stretch for most people, and is a great opportunity to examine relationship-development skills because you get an extra little boost to your motivation to communicate and operate in harmony with your canoe partner when you consider the wet consequences of not doing so! Just as importantly it is a quite nderful sensation to glide smoothly and silently through the still water and see everything from water level - it provides a range of new perspectives on many things. The experience proved so personally enticing that I invested in an open canoe as a result of a some paddling around Poole Harbour and Hampshire and Dorset rivers - and have been happily exploring these, through the year's changing seasons, ever since) Canoeing, like all of the activities we engage in, also provides opportunities to use many NLP tools and insights in real-life situations - rapport, sensory acuity, calibration, strategies, non-verbal communication, systems thinking, etc. Each session is guided by a qualified staff facilitators who, in addition to overseeing safety, instruct on how to handle the canoe and how to pay attention to the safety factors.
