The 'Pegasus NLP Adventure 2007' Report

Friday 14 - Sunday 16 September 2007

What a fantastic weekend!  Nearly 100 young people and adults playing, relaxing, and exploring in a great and genuinely friendly atmosphere – demonstrating the sense of adventure and exploration that is core to Pegasus NLP.

Personal glimpses:

bullet

Building shelters from branches in the woods

bullet

Whizzing at speed over the lake on the zip wire

bullet

Abseiling from the climbing tower

bullet

A whole line of silent people silhouetted against the afterglow of the sunset as they looked out over the valley on Friday evening

bullet

Tackling the High Ropes (in a few cases, blindfolded)

bullet

Canoeing in the afternoon sunshine on the glass-like lake

bullet

The absence (only noticed in retrospect) of pettiness, point-scoring or grumbling - even when the inevitable glitches occurred

bullet

Tears of joy at surprising themselves on the High Ropes

bullet

The archers intently aiming to hit the target, if not quite the bulls-eye...

bullet

Looking at the stars (or were they planets?) through Ian's giant telescope, while the great sound of Squeeze & Wheeze filled the darkened valley

bullet

15-month old Alice beaming with joy in her dancing mum's arms at the Barn Dance

bullet

Crawling under and over obstacles on the Adventure Course

bullet

Intently learning to recognize and follow footprints in the woods or to light fire with string and a piece of stick

bullet

The group learning to sing with one voice down in the glade by the pond

bullet

People having 'ah ha' moments and breakthroughs in the review sessions after the activities

bullet

Twenty people silently and peacefully doing Tai Chi with sunlight slanting on them through the trees

bullet

Having a great time being silly at the Barn Dance where nobody really knew what they were doing!

bullet

Lovely weather, especially on Saturday, and it was dry all weekend – with the one brief shower holding off until 5 minutes before the close on Sunday! (Managing the weather is a particularly advanced NLP technique…)

bullet

The chilled out atmosphere at the BBQ on Saturday evening with everyone sitting around at the picnic tables eating and chatting in the balmy dusk

bullet

The risk we took in having Sunday morning Singing, Having Presence, and Tai Chi beginning at 8.30 am…. and which, surprisingly, were well attended

We haven’t yet finalised how much has been raised for Barnardos Young Carers as there are a couple of price queries still to be sorted out plus orders are still coming in from participants for the photo DVD.

The weekend's photo gallery will be here shortly

Thanks...

... to the Pegasus team of helpers - Catherine, Jon, Tara, Tania, and Nigel. And a special thanks to Martine and Louise who in the weeks leading up to the event spent many a late night calculating how much food to buy, which people to allocate to which activities, and who then manned the reception area all weekend.
